University Relations will host its next photo session on July 25, from 11-1, in the Emeriti lounge, on the west side Walwood Hall. No appointments are needed. Any faculty or staff may drop in to have their photo taken. The photos will be retained by University Relations and may be requested for use at any time from Sue Beougher.

Congratulations to Dr. Sandra Borden.

Her book, "Journalism as practice: MacIntyre, virtue ethics and the press," has been selected as one of three finalists for the 2008 Tankard Book Award.

The Tankard Book Award is a prestigious, national award given out by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC).

The 2008 Tankard Book Award winner will be announced at the conclusion of the Tankard Book Award panel at the AEJMC Convention in  Chicago.

Alan Kehew has been elected as one of the GSA’s Fellows who will be recognized at the 2008 Joint Annual Meeting GSA Presidential Address & Awards Ceremony on Saturday, 4 October, at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.
 
He is being recognized for his work on catastrophic flood bursts and its impact on our understanding of Quaternary fluvial history in the Northern Great Plains. Also for his contributions to applied geology through groundwater studies and textbooks for geological and environmental engineers.
 
We are proud to have Alan as one of our distinguished faculty members.
