Supplemental Instruction

Supplemental Instruction focuses on high-risk courses. The goal of SI is to help students be successful in high-risk classes; developing new learning strategies, applying them as appropriate, and being successful in the subsequent courses as well.

Content Tutoring

Tutoring is available during selected time slots each week and may be one-on-one or small group. The goal of tutoring is similar to the goal of SI in that it is to help students be successful in their classes; developing new learning strategies, applying them as appropriate, and being successful in the subsequent courses as well.

College Success Seminars

These 50-minute seminars are independent of each other, thus students may attend one, two, or all of the topics covered. The seminars include such topics as time management, test-taking strategies, note-taking strategies, and learning styles. The goal of CSS is to help students develop college-appropriate studying techniques and habits.

Effective Reading Seminars

The goal of these seminars is to help students develop college-appropriate reading skills as well as satisfy the Intellectual Skills Program's reading requirement. Following completion of the requisite seminars, students may attempt the Degrees of Reading Power (DRP) test to demonstrate the required reading level and, therefore, be exempted from LS 1040 (ED 1040).
