Community College Competitive Transfer Scholarships

Students who believe they meet the scholarship criteria should apply for admission, request official transcripts (from all institutions attended) be sent to WMU's Office of Admissions, and submit the online scholarship application by the deadline of March 15, 2018.

 

PHI THETA KAPPA ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP

$10,000 ($5,000 per year)

Criteria

  • 3.75+ cumulative GPA at time of admission (as calculated by the Office of Admissions)

  • 24+ completed credit hours by May 2018

  • Must be an inducted Phi Theta Kappa member
    (PTK designation must be present on official transcript)

  • Must join WMU’s Phi Theta Kappa alumni chapter 

 

COMMUNITY COLLEGE SCHOLARS AWARD

$7,500 ($3,750 per year)

Criteria

  • 3.5+ cumulative GPA at time of admission (as calculated by the Office of Admissions)

  • 30+ completed credit hours by May 2018

  • Must complete an associate degree or earn the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) endorsement by May 2018
    (updated transcripts showing degree or MTA must be sent in May)

 

COMMUNITY COLLEGE HONORS AWARD

$5,000 ($2,500 a year)

Criteria

  • 3.5+ cumulative GPA at time of admission (as calculated by the Office of Admissions)

  • 24+ completed credit hours by May 2018 

 

Transfer scholarship details:

These awards are for new, incoming, domestic transfer students entering in the fall 2018 semester. Students who previously attended WMU as a degree-seeking student are not eligible. Students must apply for admission, submit official transcripts and complete the scholarship application by March 15 for consideration.  Updated transcripts must be sent to WMU Admissions in May to verify associate degree and/or MTA endorsement completion. 

Scholarships are awarded four semesters (fall/spring) or until graduation requirements are met, whichever comes first. Students who complete the scholarship application will be considered for all three awards, but may receive only one. If selected for more than one award, students will receive the scholarship of highest value.

Transfer scholarships are selective and recipients must enroll at WMU as full-time students (12 or more main campus credit hours per semester) and achieve criteria in order to maintain the award.Scholarships are subject to change.
