Scholarships

Scholarships offered through the WMU Bronson School of Nursing are listed below.

  • Scholarship applications are due February 1. 
  • Notification will go out by May 1, only to students who receive the scholarships.
  • Awards will be made directly to recipients' accounts for each semester.

Only apply if you are already admitted to the BSN, RN-BSN or MSN programs. Only apply for scholarships for which you are eligible. If you are eligible for more than one scholarship, you must complete an application for each scholarship. As part of the application process, we do ask that you—or the person responsible for your tuition—file a FAFSA and federal tax return.

Alumni of Bronson School of Nursing Endowed Scholarship

Criteria - Scholarship Application

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Preference given to an alumnus of Bronson Methodist Hospital School of Nursing
  • Awarded to part-time or full-time undergraduate or graduate nursing student
  • Renewable for up to four years with satisfactory academic progress
  • Award amount dependent on available funds

Anastasia E. Schauer Memorial Scholarship

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Undergraduate student
  • Preference given to transfer students from Kalamazoo Valley Community College
  • Award amount dependent on available funds

Borgess Excellence in Nursing

Criteria - Scholarship Application

  • Minimum maintained GPA of 3.0
  • Based on financial need
  • Renewable for up to four years
  • Recipient shall participate in the Borgess Nurse Extern Program when eligible
  • Award amount dependent on available funds

Bronson Health Foundation

Criteria - Scholarship Application

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 with satisfactory academic progress
  • Preference given to full-time undergraduate nursing student
  • Preference given to residents of Kalamazoo County
  • Renewable for up to three years
  • Award amount not less than $500 nor greater than $2000

Criteria - Scholarship Application

  • Minimum maintained GPA of 3.0
  • Preference given to undergraduate non-traditional students, either single parents or from working single-parent family
  • Preference given to students indicating career interest in mental health, pediatrics, oncology or nursing administration
  • Must be in 3000 level courses or above
  • Renewable for up to two years with maintained minimum GPA

Criteria - Scholarship Application

  • Minimum GPA of 2.25
  • Awarded to part-time or full-time undergraduate or graduate nursing student. If awarded to graduate student, preference given to family nursing or community health concentrations
  • Preference given to students of underrepresented gender or ethnicity
  • Renewable with satisfactory academic progress
  • Award amount dependent on available funds

Marie F. Gates

Criteria - Scholarship Application

  • Full-time undergraduate (minimum GPA 3.5) or graduate student (minimum GPA 3.7)
  • Preference shall be given to first generation students (students whose parents did not graduate from college)
  • Renewable with satisfactory academic progress
  • Award amount dependent on available funds

Nicole Jennings Scholarship in Nursing

  • Award made during fall semester for the entire year

Rosalie Clauwaert Lloyd Memorial Scholarship for Nursing Education

  • Graduate of a Kalamazoo County high school
  • Award amount dependent on available funds

Sidney and Sharie Falan

Criteria - Scholarship Application

  • Minimum GPA 3.5
  • Preference given to members of Student Nursing Associate or Lee Honors College
  • Preference given to students enrolled in 3000 level courses or above
  • Preference given to students interested in nursing administration, nursing leadership or informatics
  • 250 word, typed essay describing a current issue in the use of technology for health care delivery and how it applies to their practice must be provided with application
  • Award amount dependent on available funds

Harold S. and Edna P. Nedeau Nursing Scholarship

Criteria - Scholarship Application

  • First generation college student
  • Undergraduate student in professional program
  • Graduate nursing student in the nursing education track
  • Based on financial need
  • Award amount dependent on available funds

Dorothy and Phillip Law Memorial Scholarship

Criteria - Scholarship Application

  • Full-time undergraduate student majoring in nursing
  • Preference given to student in their junior year
  • Renewable for up to five semesters with satisfactory academic progress
  • Award amount dependent on available funds

Theodore and Hazel Perg

Criteria - Scholarship Application

  • Undergraduate student in professional program
  • Based on financial need
  • Graduate of a high school in Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph or Van Buren counties
  • Renewable with satisfactory academic progress
  • Award amount to cover tuition, books and supplies.

Heyl Scholarship

The Heyl Scholarship Program is a longstanding scholarship for high-achieving students from Kalamazoo Public Schools or the Kalamazoo Area Math and Science Center. The scholarship offers full tuition for direct admits to Nursing at WMU's Bronson School of Nursing or undergraduate studies in STEM at Kalamazoo College.
