Dr. Scott Cowley is an assistant professor of marketing at Western Michigan University's Haworth College of Business.
He is an experienced digital marketing researcher, educator, consultant and practitioner. His doctoral work centered on explaining positive business outcomes from online interactions between companies and consumers and strategies for companies to deliver more valuable customer experiences through social media.
His work as a digital marketing educator has been recognized by more than a dozen universities that use his curriculum materials. In particular, his development of student case studies using BuzzFeed as an experiential platform won the Marketing Management Association's AxcessCapon Teaching Innovation Competition in 2015. He has also contributed to multiple textbooks about digital marketing and social media and has presented to marketing professors interested in teaching digital topics.
Prior to joining WMU, Cowley earned his Ph.D. from Arizona State University and a B.S. in marketing from Brigham Young University. He is originally from the Salt Lake City area where he worked as a client strategist for a digital marketing agency and led search engine optimization for a publicly traded tech company.
