Course Reserves

Course Reserves allows Western Michigan University faculty and instructors to place books, articles, videos, recordings and other materials on reserve in the library or electronically for a course.

Students

Once logged in, you will need to search for and add your courses to your account. You may be prompted for a course password assigned by your instructor when adding a course using copyright-protected materials.

Articles and other short texts will be available electronically through the Course Reserves system. Books and other physical materials on reserve will be located at Waldo Library's service desk in the first-floor lobby.

Faculty and instructors

Physical materials from the WMU Libraries' collections or personal/departmental materials may be placed on reserve at Waldo Library. Electronic materials may also be placed on reserve through our Course Reserves system.

You can start your library course reserves request in two ways:

  1. Use your instructor account in the Course Reserves system to set up your course and add items online. WMU Libraries will review all items submitted online for compliance with copyright guidelines and accessibility standards.
  2. Email lib-rsc@wmich.edu for assistance. A library staff member will review your request, search for materials in the Libraries' collections, digitize portions of physical materials, and upload them to the system.

We also recommend connecting with your subject librarian for assistance locating books, articles, videos, etc. for use in your class.
