Western Michigan University's Advocacy Office for Transfer Students and Military Affairs is dedicated to those transferring to the University from a community college, four-year university or military service. Although Western Michigan University strives for a seamless transfer process, problems might arise. This office is dedicated to solving those problems and insuring a smooth transition for all transfer and military students.

Our purpose
WMU's Advocacy Office for Transfer Students and Military Affairs is committed to making transfer to WMU smooth and seamless. Our office associate and advocates assist students in many ways:
- Act as an advocate for transfer students to resolve transfer issues once usual procedures have been exhausted
- Collaborate with other units to assure resolution of problems
- Identify institutional transfer practices and policies that negatively impact student success or satisfaction and find workable solutions
- Disseminate information and collaborate with academic and service units
- Act as an advocate for deployed military service members to facilitate efficient departures and returns
- Assist in troubleshooting and timely review of special needs
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to meet special needs
- Serve as a liaison throughout the University to identify academic, administrative and support services needed by deployed military service members
- Create a collaborative network that anticipates and meets the needs of deployed military service members
- Serve as a liaison between WMU and Michigan's many community college presidents and their designees
