The diversity and vitality of the mathematical community is expressed by the wide variety of mathematics organizations. It's never too early to get involved! Below are a few pages aimed at the needs of students, especially undergraduates:


AMS

Founded in 1888 to further the interests of mathematical research and scholarship, the AMS serves the national and international community through its publications, meetings, advocacy and other programs.

MAA

The largest mathematical society in the world that focuses on mathematics for students, faculty, professional mathematicians, and all who are interested in the mathematical sciences.

NCTM

A public voice of mathematics education supporting teachers to ensure equitable mathematics learning of the highest quality for all students through vision, leadership, professional development and research.


NSF

An independent federal agency created by Congress in 1950 "to promote the progress of science; to advance the national health, prosperity, and welfare; to secure the national defense...."

SIAM

SIAM fosters the development of applied mathematical and computational methodologies needed in these various application areas. Through publications, research, and community, the mission of SIAM is to build cooperation between mathematics and the worlds of science and technology.

What is Math Club?

Math Club @ WMU is dedicated to promoting engagement in mathematics, by creating opportunities for learning and fun.


What is Pi Mu Epsilon?

Pi Mu Epsilon, Inc (PME), is the National Mathematics Honor Society.

Founded on May 25, 1914 at Syracuse University, PME currently has over 300 chapters at colleges and universities throughout the United States.

The purpose of the Society is to promote scholarly activity in mathematics among the students in academic institutions.
