Poetry featured at New Issues fundraiser

Aug. 23, 2010

KALAMAZOO--A celebration of Kalamazoo poetry is on tap during an event that will raise money for Western Michigan University's New Issues Poetry and Prose.

The literary press' second annual fundraiser, is Sunday, Aug. 29, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Bell's Eccentric Cafe, 355 E. Kalamazoo Ave. A $5 donation will be requested at the door.

New Issues poets Rob Haight, Linda Nemec Foster and Phillip Sterling will be featured and will read from their works. Fifteen Kalamazoo poets--including Diane Seuss, Conrad Hilberry, Nancy Eimers, Elizabeth Kerlikowske and Denise Miller--will each read a poem starting at 3 p.m. Joe Gross of Kalamazoo will provide music.

New Issues Poetry and Prose publications are made possible by support from WMU, grant funding from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the generous donations of a supportive arts community.
