WMU Alumni Association selects new leadership

KALAMAZOO--Eleven officers, executive committee members and directors have been elected to terms on the 2010-11 Western Michigan University Alumni Association Board of Directors, effective July 1.

Officers
One-year terms

  • President--Margean Gladysz of Tinton Falls, N.J., senior vice president and regional director at National Executive Service Corps in New York. Gladysz earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering-Industrial degree from WMU in 1975. First elected to the board in 2004, she previously has served as board vice president, chair of the Finance Committee, a member of both the Executive and Finance committees twice, and a member of the Scholarship, Nominating, Bylaws and Distinguished Alumni (Award) committees.

  • Vice president--Philip Chludzinski of Kalamazoo, CPA and partner of Brink, Key & Chludzinski P.C. in Kalamazoo. Chludzinski earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from WMU in 1980. First elected to the board in 2005, he previously has served two terms as treasurer and as a member of the Scholarship and Marketing committees.

  • Treasurer--Albert J. Allison of San Diego, manager, financial investigations at Baker Street Group Inc. in San Diego. Allison earned a BBA and Master of Business Administration degree from WMU in 1971 and 1977, respectively. First elected to the board in 2008, he is serving his inaugural term as treasurer. He previously has served as a member of the Finance, Scholarship, Membership and Marketing committees.

  • Past president--Richard D. Bailey II of DeWitt, Mich., former executive vice president and chief lending officer at Home Banc in Tampa, Fla. Bailey earned an MBA degree from WMU in 1985. First elected to the board in 2003, he previously has served as vice president twice, treasurer twice, and a member of the Executive, Finance and Scholarship committees.

  • Charles Binder of Bay City, Mich., U.S. magistrate judge, Eastern District of Michigan, Bachelor of Arts degree from WMU in 1971.

  • Mercedes (Varasteh) Dordeski of Beverly Hills, Mich., associate attorney, Frank, Haron, Weiner & Navarro in Troy, Mich., B.A. degree from WMU in 2003.

  • Guk Keong Low of Grand Rapids, Mich., director of finance, Irwin Seating Co., BBA and MBA from WMU in 1999 and 2010, respectively.

  • Michelle Olmsted of Royal Oak, Mich., development director, Cook-DeVos Center for Health Sciences at Grand Valley State University, B.S. from WMU in 1986.

Directors
Three-year terms

  • Mark A. Jackson of Story City, Iowa, city administrator, Story City, B.A. and Master of Public Administration degree from WMU in 1987 and 1991, respectively.

  • Jeanne LaMere of Marietta, Ga., director of curriculum development, Cengage Learning in Atlanta, B.A., Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy degree from WMU in 1985, 1990 and 1993, respectively.

  • Guk Keong Low of Grand Rapids, Mich., director of finance, Irwin Seating Co., BBA and MBA from WMU in 1999 and 2010, respectively.

  • Tonya Noble of Florissant, Mo., engineering manager, Boeing Co. in St. Louis, B.S. from WMU in 1996.

The WMU Alumni Association, with more than 12,000 dues-paying members throughout the world, serves the University and its graduates by providing alumni with a continuous link to WMU and each other.
