Synchronized skating team travels to national championships

Feb. 24, 2000

KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan's "senior" and "collegiate" division teams will take part in the U.S. Synchronized Team National Championships, March 2-4 in Plymouth, Mich. The competition falls during WMU's winter break period.

The Broncos are coming off solid performances at the the Tri-States Championships, held Feb. 19-20 in Plymouth. The WMU collegiate team captured the first gold medal in program history in the long program. The seniors squad placed second in the short and long programs. The competition gave WMU a chance to work on the same Compuware Arena ice surface that will be used for nationals.

Following nationals, coach Emily Caudill's team concludes its 2000 season at the Collegiate Conference Nationals (April 1), where several WMU skaters will represent the Broncos in individual competition.
