Built in 1869 by Robert Babcock, The Oaklands was constructed on 16 acres to become a 23-room Italianate Villa named for the Oak trees in the front yard.
Western Michigan University purchased The Oaklands in 1944. The Oaklands was the home of two WMU presidents, Paul V. Sangren, and James W. Miller.
A number of events have been hosted by The Oaklands, above are the most recent. Enjoy.
