WMUK, Friends of WMU to host two political forums for voters

The forums are set for Sept. 17 and 24.

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Western Michigan University's National Public Radio station WMUK and Friends of WMU, a political action committee, are hosting two political forums on campus in the coming weeks to allow voters to meet and learn more about candidates in local races.

The forums run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Brown Auditorium of Schneider Hall. Gordon Evans, WMUK news producer and announcer, will serve as moderator.

Forum dates and candidates

  • Sept. 17: The 60th and 61st House Districts. Candidates running in the 60th District are Mike Perrin (Republican) and Jon Hoadley (Democrat), while candidates in the 61st District are Brandt Iden (Republican) John Fisher (Democrat) and Michael Stampfler (Libertarian).
  • Sept. 24: The 20th Senate District. Candidates running are Margaret O'Brien (Republican), Sean McCann (Democrat) and Lorence Wenke (Libertarian).
