Trustees to welcome new members and elect 2013 leadership

Board of Trustees meeting set for Feb. 27

KALAMAZOO—Meeting in formal session Wednesday, Feb. 27, the Western Michigan University Board of Trustees will welcome two new members and elect a chair and vice chair to lead the board during 2013.

The day's activities will begin at 9 a.m. in the President's Dining Room of the Bernhard Center with the swearing in of Michelle Crumm of Ann Arbor, Mich. and Ronald Hall of Detroit. The two new trustees were appointed in November by Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder to serve eight-year terms on the WMU governing board. They will be sworn in by retired Judge William G. Schma of the Kalamazoo County Circuit Court.

Trustees will reconvene for a formal meeting at 1 p.m. in Rooms 157-159 of the Bernhard Center. At that meeting, they will select their officers for 2013. Other agenda items to be taken up include:

  • Recommendations on academic program changes
  • Gift report
  • Grant report
  • Personnel changes
  • A number of other consent items
