KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University will celebrate the end of the semester with a sustainability-themed open house from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 15, at the Gibbs House.
Sponsored by WMU's Office for Sustainability in collaboration with Students for a Sustainable Earth and the Student Garden Organization, the event is open to the public free of charge. It will feature music, food and a variety of activities and skill-sharing workshops, including:
- Bike rides
- Campus and community organization presentations
- House tours and guided nature walks in Asylum Lake
- Sustainable craft-making
- Gardening and vermi-composting demonstrations
- Art exhibitions
The the Gibbs House is located at 4503 Parkview Ave. in Kalamazoo. Transportation from main campus will be provided. There also will be a group bike tour from campus to the Gibbs House meeting at 11:30 a.m. at the Campus Flagpoles next to the Lee Honors College at the center of WMU's West Campus.
