KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's Visiting Scholars and Artists Program is seeking applications for the 2012-13 program year, which runs from September 2012 through April 2013.

The deadline for submitting applications is Thursday, April 19. Applications should be submitted to Dr. Elke Schoffers, program committee chair. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Grant awards, typically up to $1,000, are available. Larger awards are occasionally considered for applications involving scholars or artists of unusually broad appeal—those who will attract students and faculty from a variety of disciplines.

Departments that have not recently been awarded a grant are encouraged to apply. Awards made for the upcoming program year will be announced at the beginning of June.

Established in 1960, the Visiting Scholars and Artists Program makes important contributions to the intellectual life of WMU.

It provides funds for academic units to bring distinguished scholars and artists to campus to meet with faculty and students in their fields and to address the community at large. Since its inception, the program has supported 600 visits by scholars and artists representing more than 67 academic disciplines.
