EARLY FAFSA - BEGINNING OCT. 1
NEW! You can apply for the FAFSA starting Oct. 1 for the 2017-18 academic year. Most students qualify for some type of financial aid, so be sure to get your FAFSA in early at FAFSA.ed.gov.
This change will allow students to report tax information from two years ago (i.e. if you apply for the 2017-18 FAFSA, you can use 2015 tax information). For ease of use, students will be able to electronically transfer their tax information directly into their FAFSA by using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT). More information on early FAFSA.
CANCELLATION OF LOANS
Due to federal regulations, loans not originated prior to Oct. 1 will be canceled and reissued with new annually adjusted loan rates.
If your federal student loans were canceled, and if you are eligible for aid and would still like to receive these loans, please submit a Student Financial Aid Adjustment form (located on your GoWMU account) AND complete all requirements, verification, entrance counseling, promissory notes or appeals.
If you had a PLUS loan included in this cancellation and this loan is still desired, then please submit a new PLUS loan application.
CANCELLATION OF WORK-STUDY
Fall work-study recipients must have earnings charged to their fall work-study awards by Tuesday, Oct. 18, or their awards will be canceled for the remainder of the 2016-17 financial aid year. If a student has been hired, but will not be paid through work-study until after this date, the student and the employer must notify the financial aid office by e-mailing email@example.com on or before the Oct. 18 deadline. E-mails received after Oct. 18 will not be considered. Once an award has been canceled it may not be reinstated.
