KALAMAZOO--Stand-up comedian Bob Newhart will bring his signature act to Western Michigan University's Miller Auditorium for a single performance at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23.

Newhart's career has spanned two successful television shows and 14 feature films. He has sold millions of albums worldwide, and still performs such timeless classics as the Driving Instructor, Sir Walter Raleigh and The Submarine Commander to sold-out crowds across the country.

As a stand-up comedian, Newhart explored the absurdities of everyday life with an underplayed delivery and gentle stammer that earned him three Grammys and the first comedy album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard charts. His unique brand of humor translated well to television, where he starred in two of the best-loved sitcoms of the 1970s and 1980s--the Emmy-nominated "The Bob Newhart Show" and "Newhart." He experienced a career surge beginning in the 1990s with roles in such hit films as "In and Out," "Legally Blonde 2," "Elf" and, most recently, a cameo role in "Horrible Bosses."
