KALAMAZOO--The Confucius Institute at Western Michigan University is offering free Chinese language tutoring to members of the local community.

Tutoring is being provided from 3 to 4 p.m. every Monday and Thursday on WMU's main campus in Room 2152 of Dunbar Hall. These drop-in sessions are open to all area Chinese language learners. No registration is required.

Established in 2009, the Confucius Institute was created through a partnership between WMU and Beijing Language and Culture University.

The institute is a non-profit organization created to provide new Chinese language and cultural studies options for WMU students and faculty and to dramatically expand international opportunities for regional K-12 schools and businesses. It is the fourth such institution in Michigan and the 61st to be founded in the United States.

For more information about the Confucius Institute's Chinese language tutoring, contact the institute at wmu-confucius@wmich.edu or (269) 387-3951.
