KALAMAZOO--During its April 8 meeting, the WMU Board of Trustees approved three changes to the University's undergraduate academic degree offerings.

Trustees approved the creation of an undergraduate major in general psychology that replaces the current psychology major. The new configuration is designed for students who want a psychology major but who are likely to pursue employment or advanced training in a nonpsychology discipline.

Trustees approved the elimination of a geography major with a concentration in urban and regional planning, because the community and regional planning major makes the older program unnecessary.

Finally, trustees approved the creation of an event management minor in the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. The minor utilizes University expertise and responds to both growth in professional opportunities and increased student interest in the subject.
