Ackerley was a bitter and lonely middle-aged writer who felt he would never know true love. Then, he adopted a feisty 18-month-old puppy, and found his ideal companion--and more. Based largely on Ackerley's own experiences, the animated "My Dog Tulip" is a bittersweet, award-winning homage to the 14-year relationship between a man and his beloved pet. It was this relationship that lead Ackerley to write, "A dog has one aim in life ... to bestow his heart." Based on Ackerley's novel, "My Dog Tulip," is written and directed by Paul and Sandra Fierlinger. The 2009 film is shown in English and has a run time of 83 minutes. It is not rated.
