WMU will play next in the quarterfinals at 1:30 p.m. Friday against the winner of a Tuesday contest at Central Michigan between No. 11-seed Miami and No. 6 seed CMU.

Western Michigan has an overall record of 22-8 and concluded the MAC regular season at 12-4, second only to top-seeded Ball State's 14-2 league mark. The No. 2 tournament seed went to Ohio University, 10-6, by virtue of Ohio's first-place finish in the MAC East. The division winners automatically get the No. 1 and 2 seeds. The fourth seed went to Northern Illinois, 11-5, which also gets a first-round bye.

The winner of the MAC tournament gets an automatic berth in the NCAA national tournament. In 2008, the Broncos earned an at-large bid and advanced to the "Sweet 16" in the NCAA tournament, where they lost to eventual national champion Penn State.

Victories this past weekend over CMU and EMU were played before a combined audience of more than 3,000 fans and extended the Broncos' home winning streaks to 26 straight against MAC opponents and 20 straight overall.
