'Exit Through the Gift Shop' at Little Theatre

Aug. 13, 2010

KALAMAZOO--Kalamazoo Film Society presents "Exit Through the Gift Shop," a documentary on the culture of underground street art, Friday through Sunday, Aug. 20-22, in the Little Theatre at Western Michigan University.

Show times are 7 and 9:30 p.m. Friday; 4:30, 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday; and 2:30, 5 and 7 p.m. Sunday. General admission is $5 and $3 for students with a valid Bronco ID Card.

In this film, British street artist and political activist Banksy turns the tables--and the cameras--on the people making a documentary on him and his art. Billed as 'the world's first street art disaster movie,' it contains exclusive footage of Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Thierry Guetta, Rhys Ifans, Space Invader, Joshua Levine and some of the world's most famous graffiti artists at work. There is speculation that the film is a hoax. That remains in question. What is not in question, is that this film takes a funny, fascinating and provocative look at a man and his art.

Directed by Banksy and Fairey, the 2010 film is shown in English and has a run time of 87 minutes. It is rated R for adult language.

Parking and directions

The Little Theatre is located at the corner of Oakland Drive and Oliver Lane on WMU's East Campus. Free off-street parking is available behind the theatre.
