Stolen Native American artifact recovered

May 7, 2010

KALAMAZOO--Native-American gloves stolen from a display case in Western Michigan University's Waldo Library April 28 have been recovered, and a suspect in the theft has been identified and will be charged.

Security camera images and information about the theft published on the University's website led to identifying the suspect and recovery of the artifact, according to WMU Deputy Police Chief Blaine Kalafut.

The Native-American gloves from the 1930s are part of the University's Indian Heritage Collection.
