Sustainability Fund passage celebrated ThursdayApril 27, 2010 KALAMAZOO--Supporters of Western Michigan University's sustainability initiatives will celebrate passage of the Sustainability Fund with a picnic lunch from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 29, at the Goldsworth Valley Gazebo. The event is open to the public free of charge. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to pass, and their own plates, utensils and beverage. Frisbees, cards and other games are welcome. The rain location is the Wesley Foundation, located next to the Lee Honors College. Responding to a student-led initiative and vote, WMU's Board of Trustees recently approved a new $8 fee for students, which will generate an estimated $440,000 annually to support a sustainability office, a green jobs program for students, student research and other programs.
