Top students vie in annual Concerto CompetitionFeb. 1, 2010 KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's top music students will take center stage in the final round of this year's Concerto Competition at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. There is no admission charge, and the public is invited to attend competition performances. WMU School of Music students were competitively selected for the final round from five performance areas--string, woodwind, brass/percussion, vocal and keyboard. Finalists will vie for the opportunity to perform as soloists with the University Symphony Orchestra later this spring. Judges for the 2010 Concerto Competition Finals are Adam Clark, professor of piano at Hope College; Debra Fayroian, director of Chamber Music North and former cellist with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra; and Wesley Jacobs, former principal tubist of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
