Football pep rally scheduled in Grand Rapids

KALAMAZOO--All Grand Rapids-area Western Michigan University alumni and friends are invited to kick off the 2009 Bronco football season with a celebration Thursday, Sept. 3, at the B.O.B., 20 Monroe Ave. NW.

Join Head Coach Bill Cubit and President John M. Dunn at the "Stampede at the Big House" pep rally from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the third floor of the B.O.B. in downtown Grand Rapids. The event is open to the public free of charge. Food and beverages will be served, and special appearances will be made by Buster Bronco, the WMU pep band, and the WMU Cheer and Dance teams.

Quarterback Club, formerly known as the Grand Rapids Breakfast Club, is sponsoring the gathering. The group also plans to host breakfasts with Coach Cubit throughout the football season. Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 18, Oct. 16 and Nov. 6 at the WMU Graduate Center-Downtown, 200 Ionia Ave. SW, in Grand Rapids.

The Broncos kick off the season Sept. 5 at the University of Michigan. The home opener versus Miami University is Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. Season and single-game tickets can be purchased at wmubroncos.com or by calling the WMU Athletic Ticket Office at (888) 4-WMU-TIX.
