Trustees to consider tuition, set 2009-10 budget

June 30, 2009

KALAMAZOO--The Western Michigan University Board of Trustees is expected to tackle the issues of tuition and budget for 2009-10 when it meets in a public session on campus at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, July 2, in Rooms 157-159 of the Bernhard Center.

Agenda items include a budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1 and tuition rates for both on-campus and Extended University Program classes.

In addition, trustees will consider a recommendation to take the necessary steps to effect an agreement with Michigan State University that would end a long-term lease held by MSU on 55 acres of land owned by WMU that is adjacent to the University's Business Technology and Research Park. If adopted, the move would free the parcel for possible future expansion of the WMU park.

At the meeting, trustees also will consider a series of consent items that include a recommendation to rename the University's Center for Academic Support Programs as well as reports on personnel changes and gifts and grants received during May.
