Broncos host Lakers in CCHA playoffs

March 5, 2009

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's hockey team hosts Lake Superior State in a best-of-three first-round series in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs. The Broncos and Lakers square off at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday (if necessary), March 6-8, at Lawson Ice Arena.

Friday's game will be televised by Fox Sports Detroit Plus, and Saturday's contest will be carried by Comcast.

The Broncos and Lakers have met in seven playoff games over the years, with LSSU holding a 5-2 edge. However, the Broncos were 2-0 in the last series with Lake Superior State, at the end of the 2005-06 season.

Two weeks ago, the teams split the regular season series at LSSU, with the Lakers winning, 7-4, in the first contest, the Broncos taking the second, 4-1, and both teams scoring eight goals for the weekend.

Tickets are $16 per night or $33 for the series. WMU student tickets are $5. Tickets may be purchased at Lawson Ice Arena, online at wmubroncos.com or by calling toll free (888) 4-WMU-TIX.
