Event connects students with business programsSept. 16, 2008 KALAMAZOO--For the second year, Western Michigan University's Haworth College of Business is kicking off the fall semester by inviting new and returning students to learn more about the University's business programs and related professional organizations. Business Bash runs from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, in the courtyard at Schneider Hall. In the event of rain, it will be moved to the Schneider Hall Study Lounge. Sponsored by the college's Student Leadership Advisory Board and Target, the event is designed to promote membership and active involvement among all students, especially pre-business freshmen and sophomores. In addition to representatives from registered student organizations, faculty members from the college will be on hand to discuss the programs and opportunities available to students. "Business Bash is a great opportunity for all WMU students to learn more about business majors," says Linda Ickes, Haworth College of Business Career Center director. "At the same time, students and faculty have a chance to network and engage in our community." Business faculty members give the event their full support, Ickes adds. "Business Bash is supported 100 percent by our faculty, who not only attend the event, but encourage student participation," she says.
