School of Music presents popular holiday concert

Nov. 26, 2007

KALAMAZOO--The Western Michigan University School of Music presents its annual Christmas card to the community--a free holiday concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, in Miller Auditorium.

Popular with audiences of all ages, the "Jazz for the Holidays" concert has become a season tradition for many Kalamazoo-area families. More than 100 musicians will present this year's show, including members of the Western Jazz Quartet; Gold Company, directed by Dr. Steven Zegree; University Jazz Orchestra, directed by Dr. Scott Cowan; GC II, directed by WMU alumnus Michael Wheaton; WMU Drum Choir, directed by Keith Hall; and the WMU Saxophone Choir, directed by Trent Kynaston.

The program includes medleys of holiday tunes mixed with unique arrangements of traditional songs and carols. The fun will be highlighted by an audience sing-along to bring holiday cheer to the stage and audience alike.
