WMU cadet makes DOD photos of the week

Nov. 16, 2007

KALAMAZOO--An extreme close up of the camouflaged face of Elizabeth Slabaugh, an ROTC cadet from Western Michigan University, was one of eight images in the "Week in Photos" on the U.S. Department of Defense Web home page for the week of Oct. 28.

The photo by Army Staff Sgt. Russell Lee Klika, pictures Slabaugh in full gear and camouflage during the Army ROTC Ranger Challenge Competition at Camp Atterbury, Ind., Oct 20.

A freshman from St. Joseph, Mich., Slabaugh is majoring in art and political science. Following graduation, she plans to spend four years in military service, and then would like to "go back to Benton Harbor, our neighboring town, to help rebuild the city."

The "Week in Photos" is available at www.defenselink.mil with a link to an archive of past weeks. To find the image of Slabaugh, go to the archive and click Oct. 28.
