Pros help students at business etiquette dinner

Oct. 12, 2007

Some 100 Western Michigan University students will be displaying their good taste by attending WMU's 10th annual Etiquette Dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, in the Fetzer Center.

The Etiquette Dinner, which includes a seminar followed by a group meal, imparts bread and butter information about proper business etiquette in social situations. It is organized by Career and Student Employment Services each fall for WMU juniors, seniors and graduate students.

The seminar portion of this CSES program allows students to pick up pointers for avoiding social gaffes during such common business situations as mealtime interviews and meetings. The dinner portion of the evening gives participants a chance to practice their newly learned skills.

While dining, the students will network with employer representatives of the State Farm Insurance Co. and several other organizations that are co-sponsoring this year's event.

Students attending the Etiquette Dinner must register in advance and show up dressed in business attire. Space is limited, so immediate registration is encouraged. Event tickets cost $10 and may be paid by cash, check or credit card.

To register, call CSES at (269) 387-2745 or visit its offices on the first floor of Ellsworth Hall. For more information, pick up a CSES Career Search Manual, visit broncojobs.wmich.edu or call Rachael Bennett at (269) 387-2745.
