WMU Home > About WMU > WMU News Showing of German film "Yasemin" canceledSept. 29, 2006 KALAMAZOO--The German Film Series at Western Michigan University has canceled its Monday, Oct. 2, screening of the 1988 film "Yasemin." The video tape of "Yasemin" delivered to WMU for screening was incompatible with equipment available on campus and did not contain English subtitles, according to Dr. Olivia Gabor-Peirce, assistant professor of German, who organizes the series. "At this late date, our only option was to cancel the showing of the film." The series will continue as originally scheduled with a Monday, Oct. 16, screening of "Ali: Fear Eats the Soul" ("Angst Essen Seele Auf"). All films in WMU's German Film Series are free and open to the public. All are presented in German with English subtitles and begin at 7:30 p.m. in 3209A Kohrman Hall.
