New Web site offers details of provost search

July 18, 2006

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University has launched a Web site with complete information about its national search for WMU's next provost and vice president for academic affairs at www.wmich.edu/provost/search.

The search is being conducted to identify a successor to Dr. Janet I. Pisaneschi, who accepted an appointment as provost in May, following the resignation of Dr. Linda Delene. Pisaneschi agreed to serve for up to one year to allow for a thorough national search.

Dean Margaret Merrion of WMU's College of Fine Arts is chairing the search advisory committee composed of faculty, staff, administrators and students.

"We welcome nominations of qualified candidates for this important position," says Merrion, "and we encourage the members of the WMU community, on and off campus, to follow the progress of the search."

The committee membership is listed on the new Web site, along with the time line for the search, profile of WMU, comprehensive description of the position and information on how to apply or nominate a candidate. Regular progress reports will be posted on the site.
