Bronco football highlights Family Festival weekend

Oct. 2, 2005

KALAMAZOO--Families and friends of WMU students will call campus home when they come to town for the 38th annual Family Festival from Friday through Sunday, Oct. 7-9.

Family Festival involves the family members and friends of WMU students in college life for an entire weekend as well as honors and celebrates the commitment parents and guardians show to the University and its students.

This year's program will begin on Friday with participants being able to attend some of the entertainment and athletic events happening around campus. During the weekend, attendees also will be able to tour campus and enjoy the Student Recreation Center's facilities at little or no cost.

The core of activities will take place on Saturday, when WMU Parents Association members attend a special tailgate, then cheer on the Broncos at the 7 p.m. football game against Ball State University. The deadline to register for the tailgate was Sept. 22.

Other weekend events include contests for the Bronco men's soccer and hockey teams, performances Friday and Saturday of the University Theatre production of "Brighton Beach Memoirs," and a free Sunday afternoon concert by the University Symphony Orchestra in Miller Auditorium. Visit the Events Calendar in WMU News for a complete listing of public events.

Family Festival 2005 is being sponsored by the WMU Parents Association with assistance from the Office of Residence Life in the Division of Student Affairs. More information is available from the association by calling (269) 387-2156 or visiting www.wmu-parents.wmich.edu.
