Children's Place enrolling school-agers for summer

April 25, 2005

KALAMAZOO--Do you have school-age children or grandchildren around this summer?

The Children's Place Learning Center at Western Michigan University is now enrolling school-age children for its 2005 Summer Program. The program begins the week after Kalamazoo County public schools close for the summer and continues through to the start of the next public-school year.

School-age children participate in the Campus Kids summer theme camp. Children must have completed kindergarten to be eligible. Campus Kids focus on a different theme each week. During the week, the children work on projects related to that theme. Supplemental to the projects are a variety of field trips and activities on campus, including swimming, gym time at the Student Recreation Center and learning about computers.

More information about the Children's Place Learning Center and the complete schedule of weekly summer activities can be found on the Web at www.wmich.edu/childrensplace.

Those who sign up by Friday, May 13, will receive one-half off the standard enrollment fee of $40. Weekly rates are $120 for WMU students, $150 for WMU faculty and staff, and $170 for the general public.

Toddler and pre-school openings are also available, but are filling fast. Call the Children's Place Learning Center at (269) 387-2277 for more information.
