The scholarship offsets the cost of enrolling in WMU's Grand Tour of Europe, a four-credit survey class focusing on the art and culture of the Italian Renaissance, Dutch Golden Age and Impressionist movement. The Study Abroad Office offered the merit-based scholarship this year in honor of the course's 20th anniversary. The award covers tuition, fees, instructional costs, and health and accident insurance. All students admitted to the Grand Tour of Europe course were eligible to apply for the scholarship. The winner, announced last month, was selected based on a required essay and a review of the applicants' academic records. The 2005 course will run from May 3 to June 2. It is being guided by Dr. Larry ten Harmsel, dean of the Lee Honors College, who will take participants on a fully escorted tour to Florence, Italy; Lausanne, Switzerland; London; Paris; and Rome.
