Thousands of students arriving in Kalamazoo

Aug. 23, 2004

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's fall semester formally opens at 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, with the start of 2004-05 classes. But new and returning students are already arriving on campus by the thousands, settling in for a new semester, attending various events, and patronizing sites such as the Bernhard Center's Bronco Mall and businesses throughout the area.

Early move-in for residence hall students began Monday, Aug. 23, primarily for freshmen participating in Bronco Days. Most residence hall students will be moving in starting at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, when the residence halls officially open. Nearly all students will be moved in by the end of the day on Aug. 28. Thousands of other students are already settled in off-campus housing and the stream of students arriving will increase through this weekend.

Student volunteers dubbed Bronco Buddies are available Aug. 27 and 28 to help new and returning students move into their rooms. For more information regarding Bronco Buddies, special events for residence hall students, and questions about moving into residence halls, contact the Office of Residence Life at (269) 387-4735 or <rl-staff@wmich.edu>.
