Out of more than 290 NCAA Division I volleyball programs nationally, only 46 received the prestigious award this year, including five teams from the Mid-American Conference. The AVCA award was initiated during the 1992-93 academic year. It honors college and high school teams that have displayed excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team GPA on a 4.0 scale. Over the past 10 years, the WMU volleyball team has maintained a 100 percent graduation rate and boasts a greater than 3.0 cumulative GPA during that period.
