Staff groups award scholarships

June 3, 2004

KALAMAZOO--Two staff organizations at Western Michigan University have awarded scholarships to their members or the children of members for studies at WMU.

The Professional Support Staff Organization has awarded its Education Assistance Scholarship for the Summer I session to Lori Kison, a library assistant in Waldo Library. Through its scholarship, PSSO awards varying amounts up to a maximum of $250 each semester to an applicant, who must be an active member of PSSO at the time of the award.

WMU's Administrative Professional Association has awarded its $500 scholarship for 2004 to Ryan Asmus, a senior from Kalamazoo majoring in electrical engineering. Asmus is the son of Wendy Asmus, an academic advisor in the WMU College of Education. The scholarships are awarded annually and provide assistance to the children of APA members for study at WMU.
