WIDR rocks for Habitat
May 12, 2003
KALAMAZOO -- WIDR, 89.1 FM, the non-profit, student-run radio
station of Western Michigan University, is sponsoring its annual
benefit show for a local non-profit organization Thursday, May
22, beginning at 9 p.m.
This year's WIDR AIDE concert will benefit the WMU student
chapter of Habitat for Humanity and will be held at Kraftbrau
Brewery, 402 East Kalamazoo Ave, Kalamazoo. There is a $5 cover
charge for the event.
WIDR has organized a unique line-up of bands, headlined by
Pilot Scott Tracy, a frenzied, synth-rock band, featuring former
members of the Causey Way. Also appearing are Spit for Athena,
a Grand Rapids area rock group, which had a CD release party
May 8, and Kalamazoo-based punk band Huge Individuals.
Money raised will go toward a Habitat house to be built by
WMU students in cooperation with the Kalamazoo Valley Chapter
of Habitat for Humanity, as part of the 2003 celebration of the
University's centennial.
