Music therapy students sweep music club scholarshipsApril 25, 2002 KALAMAZOO -- Two Western Michigan University students have claimed both of the major scholarships provided through the Michigan Federation of Music Clubs. Melissa Hirokawa of Scottsville, N.Y., a graduate student in music therapy, has been awarded the Birmingham Musicale Scholarship, which is targeted at seniors, interns or graduate students in music therapy. The scholarship is for $600. Julie Gray, a senior majoring in music therapy from Alpena, Mich., was awarded a $500 MFMC scholarship.
