Best men's basketball season since 1998 ends in playoffsMarch 5, 2002 KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University's men's basketball team saw its season come to an end with a disappointing 90-83 loss against Akron Monday night at University Arena in the first round of Mid-American Conference Tournament play. The Broncos finished the season with an overall record of 17-13 and a regular season mark of 10-8 against MAC opponents. Both records were the best for the Broncos since the 1997-98 season, which was also the last time the men's squad earned home court in the conference tournament. Other highlights from the 2001-02 season, include the selection of Bronco Ben Reed as the conference's Freshman Player of the Year. Click for related article.
