Poet Lisa Lewis to present reading

KALAMAZOO -- Poet Lisa Lewis will present a reading of her work at Western Michigan University Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Lewis will read from her work at 8:30 p.m. in Room 3512 of Knauss Hall. A reception will follow in the Knauss Hall lobby and books by Lewis will be available for sale by Athena Bookstore. Sponsored by the WMU Department of English, the reading is free and open to the public.

Lewis is the author of two books of poetry, "The Unbeliever" (1994) and "Silent Treatment" (1998). She has been the recipient of awards from the American Poetry Review, Crazyhorse and the Missouri Review. Her poems have appeared in numerous literary journals, including Best American Poetry; Night Out: Poems About Hotels, Motels, Restaurants and Bars; and The Body Electric: America's Best Poetry from The American Poetry Review. She is currently associate professor and creative writing program director at Oklahoma State University and serves as co-editor of Crazyhorse and poetry editor of the Cimmarron Review.
