Premiere Night kicks off fall 2000 sports seasons

Sept. 7, 2000

KALAMAZOO -- The first major event on the WMU Bronco sports calendar is "Premiere Night," Friday, Sept. 15. "Premiere Night" is the official launch of the entire Bronco sports season and will be celebrated in the atmosphere of a Hollywood premiere.

The main event will be the Bronco volleyball match with Big East power Connecticut at the Ameritech Invitational in University Arena beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Fans should plan to arrive early (starting at 6 p.m.) dressed in their Premiere Night fashions. Two photographers will be on hand to snap a free photo of your group in its best attire. Photo sessions end at 7 p.m.

The first 2,000 fans to arrive at University Arena will receive a Premiere Night Hollywood-style poster that kicks off the Bronco year in style.

Premiere Night also sets the stage for a full day of CommUniverCity activities, Saturday, Sept. 16. Football coach Gary Darnell will be on hand at Premiere Night and will offer a "pep-rally" preview of the following evening's CommUniverCity football contest.

At 1 p.m. on CommUniverCity Saturday, the volleyball Broncos host No. 18-ranked Ohio State in University Arena. A meet-the-team tailgate outside the arena follows the match. The football Broncos open their 2000 home schedule at 6 p.m., with CommUniverCity Night football versus Indiana State.
