Softball Broncos sweep Detroit with two shutouts

May 3, 2000

KALAMAZOO -- The WMU softball team posted its first doubleheader shutout in more than two years Tuesday afternoon (April 2), topping Detroit 6-0 and 3-0 in non-conference action.

The Broncos last accomplished that feat on April 24, 1998, at Toledo.

Designated player Alison Honaman finished the first game 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Nicole Drabecki was 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI in game one, and Angie Fiero was 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Senior Jen Myslinski completed the afternoon 5-for-8 with two runs scored, helping to power the potent offensive attack. Pitchers Leah Seffernick and Nicky Kern combined to give up six hits in the two games to help shutdown the Titan batting corps.

The Broncos improved to 11-30 overall. They travel to Michigan State for a single game today, May 3, and return home for a three-game stand versus Toledo, Friday and Saturday, May 5-6, to close out the regular season. Friday's single game versus Toledo begins at 3 p.m. at Ebert Field. Saturday's doubleheader begins at 1 p.m.
