Nov. 5, 1999

KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan (4-4-1, 4-4-1 CCHA) scored first, but then gave up five unanswered goals in a 5-1 setback to Northern Michigan (6-2-1, 4-0-1 CCHA) in Central Collegiate Hockey Association action Friday (Nov. 5) night in Lawson Arena.

Freshman Ben Gagnon scored for the Broncos, who have tallied a power play goal in all nine games this season. Roger Trudeau led the Wildcats' attack with two red lampers.

Coming into the contest, Northern Michigan was ranked No. 12 in NCAA Division I men's hockey in the USA TODAY/American Hockey Magazine Poll.

The Broncos were outshot, 44-26, as goaltender Jeff Reynaert was forced to make 39 saves.

Both teams meet again on Saturday evening in a 7:05 p.m. faceoff from Lawson.

The Bronco Hockey team will be collecting new and used children's books this weekend for donation to the Kalamazoo Public Library's Ready to Read Program. Books can be dropped off in the lobby of Lawson Arena.
