KALAMAZOO -- For the third consecutive week, a Western Michigan University athlete has been named the Mid-American Conference volleyball Offensive Player of the Week.

Senior middle blocker Traci Morin (Bay City, Mich.) was selected as co-recipient of the award for the week of Oct. 4. Morin shares the honor with Emily Sallee of Ball State.

Morin hit .558 (27-3-43) for the week and averaged 4.50 kills per game as the Broncos won matches at Kent State and at Buffalo. Morin also averaged 2.17 digs and 1.17 blocks per contest. Against the Kent Golden Flashes, Morin had 12 kills, five blocks, four digs and hit .500. In WMU's victory over Buffalo, Morin tallied 15 kills and had only one error in 23 attempts for a .609 attack percentage, while picking up nine digs and adding a pair of blocks.

Going into this past weekend's contests, Morin was ranked No. 18 in the nation in hitting percentage for the season (NCAA Division I volleyball).

WMU senior Mandy Whitfield was selected MAC Offensive Play of the Week for the week of Sept. 20, and sophomore Zakiya Pope received the honor for the week of Sept. 27.

The Western Michigan University volleyball team (12-3, 4-0 Mid-American Conference) hosts two MAC West Division foes searching for their first conference wins of the season this week. The Broncos welcome Northern Illinois (3-7, 0-3 MAC) to town on Wednesday (Oct. 6). The Toledo Rockets (3-12, 0-5 MAC) pay a visit on Saturday (Oct. 9). Both matches begin at 7 p.m. at University Arena.
