March 30, 1999

KALAMAZOO-- Laughter will take center stage at an event in St. Joseph, Mich., Thursday, April 15, sponsored by the Southwest Michigan chapter of the Western Michigan University Alumni Association.

WMU graduates Laurie Young and Kay Caskey will present "Laughter Works: An Approach to Healthful Living" at 7 p.m. at WMU's Southwest Regional Center, 2510 Lakeview, St. Joseph. Both women also are part-time instructors at WMU. The center is located in the northeast corner of St. Joseph High School.

"We're inviting alumni and their guests to learn about some of the enduring myths of laughter and the ways humor can be used to increase teamwork, morale and productivity," says Mickey Sipress, chapter president. "Concepts presented are beneficial to people at work and in their personal relationships."

The cost for association members is $5. For non-members and guests, the cost is $7. More information is available from Sipress at (616) 925-2498 or from Carol J. Conklin, assistant director of alumni relations at WMU, at (616) 387-8777. Those interested are asked to respond by April 11.
